Five specifications for power budget of the optical GPON port include CLASS A, CLASS B, CLASS B+, CLASS C, and CLASS C+. CLASS B+ is used most frequently. CLASS C+ is used for long-distance transmission in some scenarios. The power budget of CLASS B+ can reach 28.5 dB, while that of CLASS C+ is higher, reaching 32 dB.

ITU-T G.984.1: General characteristics, describing the basic GPON features and main protection modes.
ITU-T G.984.2: Physical Media Dependent layer specification, describing physical-layer GPON parameters such as physical parameters of optical modules, including the transmit optical power, receive sensitivity, and overload power. In addition, various levels of optical power budgets such as CLASS B+ are defined in this recommendation.
ITU-T G.984.3: Transmission convergence layer specification, describing TC-layer GPON protocols, including the upstream and downstream frame structures and GPON working principles.
ITU-T G.984.4: ONT management and control interface specification, describing the GPON management and maintenance protocols, including OAM, PLOAM, and OMCI protocols.
ITU-T G.984.5: Enhancement band, describing GPON wavelength planning, especially the reserved wavelength bands reserved for the next generation PON.
ITU-T G.984.6: Reach extension, describing several long reach PON solutions for prolonging the GPON transmission distance.

The processing mechanism of the ring check function of an earlier-version MA5600T has the following disadvantages:

After a loop is detected, the MA5600T deactivates the ONT. In this way, live-network configurations are modified.
After the ONT is deactivated, you need to manually activate the ONT (that is, re-configure services). This increases the workload.
The processing mechanism of the ring check function of MA5600T V800R009 (or later versions) is optimized in terms of the following aspects:
After a loop is detected, the MA5600T makes the ONT go offline. In this way, live-network configurations are not modified but the ONT is stopped from transmitting services.
The MA5600T automatically makes the offline ONT go online after a period of time elapses. Note that the length of this period of time is configurable.
An easy-to-use query function is provided. With this function, you can query all ONTs that go offline because of loops.
If you need to query all ONT deactivation records, run the display event history eventid command to query the information about events 0x2910000d and 0x29100026.
NOTE:
Event 0x2910000d indicates the PON port status; event 0x29100026 indicates the non-PON port status.

Port B reports the alarm “The feeder fiber is broken or OLT can not receive any expected optical signals(LOS)” all the time because this port is not connected to online ONUs. This standby port is in this state for a long time and therefore it reports the alarm all the time. Though this alarm is cleared manually on the NMS, it is still displayed on the NMS after a manual synchronization or automatic polling synchronization.

Port A (the standby port) generates alarms “The feeder fiber is broken or OLT can not receive any expected optical signals(LOS)” and “The backbone fiber on the port in Type B protection group is broken or the expected optical signal is not detected”. After optical signals of port A are detected, port A reports the recovery alarm “The port in Type B protection group receives the expected optical signal”.

Port A (the standby port) generates the alarm “The backbone fiber on the port in Type B protection group is broken or the expected optical signal is not detected” indicating that the optical path fails. After optical signals of port A are detected, port A reports the recovery alarm “The port in Type B protection group receives the expected optical signal”.

NOTE:
In type B protection, the standby port reports the alarm “The feeder fiber is broken or OLT can not receive any expected optical signals(LOS)” all the time, which can be ignored on the NMS. The alarm “The backbone fiber on the port in Type B protection group is broken or the expected optical signal is not detected” indicates that the optical path fails and the fault needs to be located.

The impedance value on a port determines whether the phone that connects to the port can ring. A phone rings when the AC impedance is greater than 3000 ohm, according the Chinese standard. In this case, the port current is 25 mA (Current = Voltage/Resistance = 75 V/3000 ohms = 25 mA, the phone’s voltage is 75 V). For example, when a port connects to five phones in parallel mode, the impedance of each phone is 600 ohm (3000 ohms/5 phones = 600 ohms/per phone). The current for each phone is 125 mA (Current = Voltage/Resistance = 75 V/600 ohms = 125 mA).

The 72 V power module of the MA5620 supports a maximum current of 200 mA. Therefore, a maximum of eight phones (200 mA/25 mA = 8) can ring simultaneously even if all the phones that connect to the device comply with the Chinese standard.

The ONU generates the “The board hardware is abnormal” alarm. This alarm indicates that the board hardware is faulty and as a result, the affected hardware component cannot work. If the fault occurs on a service board, the services on the board are affected. For details about the alarm, see the Alarms and Events Handling.

The following table lists whether the GE uplink optical port supports an aggregation group by version.

Pins: 1, 2, 3, and 6 connect to signal lines; 4(+), 5(+), 7(-), and 8(-) connect to power cables.

Power input parameters: When the MA5626 functions as a reverse PoE, it requires -48 V DC power. The supported power ranges from -38.4 V DC to -72 V DC.

When you run a command to configure the NTP, the first synchronization takes about 7 to 8 seconds.

An NTP synchronization request is sent in each round of polling at the following intervals: 64s, 128s, 512s, 1024s (2^6 to 2^10, five different periods). The system time is synchronized with the NTP time once in every 8 rounds of polling.

Assume that the polling period is 64s (the current polling period). The synchronization period of the NTP clock is 8.5 minutes (64s x 8).

Assume that the polling period is 1024s (the previous polling period). The synchronization period of the NTP clock is 17 minutes (128s x 8).

It is normal.Internal monitoring of optical modules is required to comply with SFF-8472, as agreed in the industry. According to the protocol, the internal monitoring accuracy of optical transceiver modules must be within 3 dB above or below the actual value. According to the specifications of the MA5600T, the gap between the optical power monitored by the optical module and the actually measured optical power is within 3 dB.

The OLT does not allow two users to perform the ping operation concurrently. If a user logs in to the system and performs the ping operation, and then another user performs the ping operation, a failure message is displayed.

Cause: The OLT does not allow two users to perform the ping operation currently. When processing the ping operation, the OLT locks the invoked service module till the completion of the processing. Therefore, only after the first ping operation completes and the system unlocks the invoked service module, the second ping operation can be performed.
